According to a Newsweek article entitled “Sex, Race, Education & the Marriage Gap,” black women are more likely to remain unmarried in comparison to their equally educated white peers, and those with college degrees who do marry usually select spouses from a ‘lower economic tier.’ Only 49 percent of black women marry equally educated spouses versus 84 percent of white women doing the same.
