Face it, the discrepancies are too obvious to overlook: Mr. Duncan died because he was given subpar treatment at the hospital he first visited, and by time he was diagnosed on his second trip to the hospital, it was too far gone. Hospitals will treat the uninsured but they will not give the best care, so he received the bare minimum at best. They’re now struggling to explain the unexplainable.
“According to the Daily Mail, Ebola patient Dr Rick Sacra was treated at a Nebraska hospital and received a blood transfusion from survivor Kent Brantly. Sacra is recovering. Another Ebola patient, Ashoka Mukpo, is receiving Brantly’s bloοd as part of his treatment as well.
Duncan, however, never received this bloοd, which is thought to aid recovery since the bloοd of a survivor has antibodies that fιght the Ebola virus.
All of the patients who received the life saving treatment were white, but Duncan, who was first turned away from the hospital and never received the drug ZMapp or bloοd transfusions from Ebola survivors, died at the hospital.
Duncan’s nephew Joe Weeks spoke with ABC News about the disparity in how Duncan was treated when compared to the white Ebola survivors. Weeks said Duncan was treated “unfair” and should’ve been moved to Emory University, the hospital that successfully treated two of the Ebola survivors.
Rev. Jesse Jackson questioned the level of care Duncan received as well.
“All I do know is that Mr Duncan received late treatment and not the best drug. They say that there is no more ZMapp. It’s hard for me to believe that there’s only enough ZMapp to treat two people in all of America,” Jackson said.” (Black Like Moi)
